As a non-profit organization the Design Terminál Kht. was jointly founded by the Hungarian Patent Office and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage in 2004. From 6th July 2009 the new official nam e of the organization is Design Terminál Public Benefit Non-profit Private Limited-liability Company for Design Information and Service.
The organization was established on the firm basis of nearly three decades professional expertise of the Budapest Design Center. Main efforts of the Design Terminál Kht. are to persuade and support the development of national design culture, thereby to increase both the international compatibility of the Hungarian economy and to promote local living standards – the quality of life.
Core activities:
- upon request to provide information and consultancy services, to participate in design related problem solving,
- to create and maintain a comprehensive database of Hungarian designers and design studios,
- to operate a design-oriented library for design professionals, students and the interested public,
- upon request to select from its database possible partners for different design projects of different clients,
- upon request professional mediation, design management service, contribution in briefing and realization of design projects,
- to organize exhibitions, meetings, workshops, seminars and conferences, to iniciate and organize educational projects and trainings,
- to increase public awareness concerning local design achievments, international exchange of design information.
